The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for the security of an organization’s information systems. Their duties include implementing security policies, assessing risks, responding to security breaches, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. ISSOs play a critical role in protecting sensitive data and maintaining the overall security posture of an organization. This position is located in Arlington, VA. Responsibilities Develop and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures to protect information systems. Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses to identify potential threats and weaknesses. Respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and implement corrective actions. Ensure that the organization’s information systems comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Educate and train employees on security best practices. Manage security aspects of information systems, including configuration management, access control, and data protection. Collaborate with various teams, including IT, security, and management, to ensure a coordinated and effective security approach. Monitor network traffic, system logs, and security tools to detect anomalies and respond to potential threats. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 to 8 years of experience. Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. Strong knowledge of security principles, technologies, and best practices. Experience with the Risk Management Framework and its application to information systems. Understanding of secure system design principles and experience developing secure architectures. Knowledge of various security controls and their implementation. Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and techniques. Ability to create and maintain security documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Compensation Current range: $78,400 – $173,500. Benefits Competitive compensation.
