Financial Administrator

Job Summary The University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, is recruiting a Financial Administrator to budget, monitor expenditures, and reconcile financial data for sponsored programs. This position collaborates closely with the principal investigator and research team to develop budgets, track expenditures, and reconcile financial data for sponsored and non‑sponsored programs. It may process and/or approve accounting transactions related to cost transfers, procurement activities, subaward management, and other financial operations related to sponsored and non‑sponsored project administration. It may also review and approve transactions on behalf of a department, center, or intermediate unit. Position Details Full or part‑time, 80‑100% May require some work to be performed on campus; some work may be remote Desired Qualifications Basic accounting principles and internal controls Clear communication with principal investigators and non‑financial staff Sound judgment when reviewing and approving transactions Independent work while coordinating across teams and departments Required Qualifications At least 2 years of finance experience Effective oral and written communication skills Professional level and highly efficient use of Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications Experience with complex automated accounting systems and processes Experience with Workday Education Associate's degree preferred; focus in accounting or finance is preferred. Key Job Responsibilities Provide expertise and advice related to procurement and allowable charges Prepare and process financial reporting and/or invoicing information Assist principal investigators with financial management of sponsored program budgets and direct day‑to‑day fiscal transactions Responsible for the financial management of a faculty member’s full funding portfolio, including sponsored and non‑sponsored projects Review financial expenditures for accuracy on sponsored grants and contracts Compensation and Benefits Salary starting at $65,000, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
