Accounting Manager

A well-established San Diego organization is seeking an Interim Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys leading teams, improving processes, and managing month-end close in a collaborative environment.

Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days onsite / 1 day remote



Pay: $42-$55/hour DOE

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
• Manage and mentor a small accounting team
• Review financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
• Ensure GAAP compliance and support internal controls
• Assist with audits, grant reporting, and process improvements
• Partner with leadership on financial analysis and operational initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Accounting management or supervisory experience (years flexible)
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
• Some exposure to fund accounting preferred
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with MIP Accounting Software and Salesforce required
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Nice to Have

• CPA or Master's degree
• Nonprofit and/or grant accounting experience
• Experience implementing process improvements
