Job Opportunity – Critical Care Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8- or 12-hour options available (1900-0730). 4x12 schedule available if preferred. Every other weekend and some holidays required. Block scheduling likely to accommodate.

• Epic EMR charting system with 28 hours of orientation provided

• Float opportunities across multiple specialty ICU units offer varied clinical experiences with high-acuity populations

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state license
• Minimum 5 years of acute care critical care nursing experience with at least 2 years within the last 3 years
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Competency in multiple ICU specialties (Neuro ICU, CVICU, Burn ICU, Trauma ICU, Medical ICU) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (80% passing score; 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms and third-degree heart blocks)
• Basic arrhythmia interpretation experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Must live 50 miles or more from the facility
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions available)

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Advanced critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, and titration of vasoactive/cardiac drips
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD (Nextstage), ECMO, IABP, Impella, and pulmonary artery catheter monitoring
• Post-operative cardiac and neurosurgery management
• External ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, and lumbar drain management
• Care of patients with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, CVA/acute stroke, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Blood product administration, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, and procedural sedation
• BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, and respiratory failure management
