Pre Post Echo Registered Nurse

Mission Health, a leading healthcare provider based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a dedicated Pre Post Echo Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals undergoing echocardiography and related cardiac diagnostic procedures in the pre- and post-procedure phases. Working collaboratively with cardiologists, sonographers, and the broader interdisciplinary care team, you will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, preparation, monitoring, recovery, and education. The Pre Post Echo RN will conduct thorough pre-procedure assessments, including reviewing medical histories, current medications, allergies, and diagnostic results to identify potential risks and ensure patients are appropriate candidates for planned procedures. You will verify informed consent, explain procedures in clear and compassionate terms, and address patient and family questions to promote understanding and reduce anxiety. During the pre-procedure period, you will initiate IV access as needed, obtain baseline vital signs and cardiac rhythms, and ensure all equipment, emergency supplies, and documentation are complete and readily available. Following echocardiography or related cardiac diagnostics, you will provide vigilant post-procedure monitoring and recovery care. This includes continuous assessment of vital signs, hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythm, pain level, and overall clinical condition, recognizing and promptly responding to any signs of deterioration or complications. You will administer medications as ordered, manage sedation recovery when applicable, and coordinate safe patient transitions to home or the next level of care. A key component of this role is providing thorough discharge teaching related to cardiac health, medications, activity restrictions, follow-up testing, and when to seek immediate medical attention. The nurse in this position will utilize strong critical thinking and clinical judgment to interpret patient data, elevate concerns to physicians and advanced practice providers, and participate in collaborative care planning. You will document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely within the electronic health record, adhering to regulatory standards and Mission Health policies. Your practice will reflect a strong commitment to evidence-based care, patient safety, and infection prevention, including meticulous adherence to medication administration protocols, hand hygiene, and universal precautions.
