Fleet Maintenance Operations Supervisor

Job Summary: The Operations Supervisor assists the Operations Manager(s) in managing operations and personnel for a daily shift at Ryder’s Northridge, California location. The role requires ensuring customer needs are met while balancing financial, safety, quality, and asset targets. Job Description The Operations Supervisor oversees work analysis, scheduling, productivity tracking, and shift meetings. They manage labor, customer relationships, asset maintenance, quality inspections, and financial performance to achieve Net Maintenance Cost per Unit objectives. Essential Functions Workflow Management: responsible for work analysis, planning, scheduling, and assigning work to technicians; tracking productivity; conducting yard checks; managing warranty policies. Labor Management: provides training, development, and performance management of all personnel assigned. Customer Management: maintains customer relationships, issue resolution, customer satisfaction, communication protocol, and PM scheduling. Asset Management: maintains appearance and standards of the location, manages parts inventory, and oversees vehicle specifications and in‑service/out‑service processes. Quality Management: conducts quality inspections, root‑cause analysis, ensures proper training and qualification of technicians, maintains documentation, and ensures safety and EPA compliance. Financial Management: ensures shop delivers against cost objectives, manages budget, payroll, P&L, bill‑back processes, and data integrity in the Shop Management Online system. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Professional representation of Ryder and competent customer interaction. Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge (preferred). Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred or 1–3 years of maintenance operations experience required; demonstrated success in a Ryder role may be substituted. Bachelor’s degree preferred or 1–3 years of maintenance operations experience required; demonstrated success in a Ryder role may be substituted. Maintenance and technical shop experience required. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with a Shop Management System preferred. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office. Compensation Salary range: $75,000 – $78,000 per year.
