Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful difference supporting K-12 students with visual impairments in a dynamic educational setting for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract position is seeking two skilled professionals who are passionate about empowering students’ independence and academic growth. Flexible scheduling may be available for outstanding part-time applicants.

You’ll work within a collaborative environment, benefiting from strong administrative support and streamlined workflows through the TN Pulse platform. Caseloads are thoughtfully balanced between elementary, middle, and high school, and are assigned within close geographic areas to minimize travel. These itinerant positions ensure you’ll build meaningful relationships and continuity with students and staff alike.
Ideal candidates enjoy variety and flexibility—caseloads feature both general education students and those in specialized classrooms for learners with additional needs. Active participation in IEP meetings and careful planning are central to this role, ensuring every student receives the tailored support they deserve.
Qualifications:
- Current and active DOE certification
- At least five years’ experience teaching students with visual impairments (virtual applicants only)
- Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology
- Familiarity with the Federal Quota program (preferred)
- Willingness to travel between multiple school sites within an assigned area
- Experience with collaborative IEP planning and implementation
- Required fingerprint clearance
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultation to K-12+ students with visual impairments
- Facilitate student access to curriculum and technologies such as Chromebooks
- Develop, monitor, and participate in IEPs
- Travel to various school sites, with routes designed to minimize drive time
