Staff Accountant

Job Description Job Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the firm, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining general ledger accounts, process monthly billings and assisting with financial analysis and project accounting activities. Key Responsibilities General Accounting Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts. _reconcile credit card statements, and balance sheet/income statement accounts monthly._ Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare and analyze financial reports. Support budget and forecast preparation. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Review employee expense reports. Serve as backup for our Accounts Payable Specialist. Assist with customer invoicing and collections activities. Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and resolve past due balances. Project Accounting Support project managers with project cost tracking and reporting. Assist with WIP reporting and project profitability analysis. Help ensure compliance with contract billing requirements. Financial Reporting & Compliance Assist with monthly financial statements and management reports. Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting. Maintain records in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Qualifications Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Accountancy or related accounting field. Experience: 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an engineering, consulting, construction, professional services, or project-based environment. Strong understanding of GAAP. Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency. Proficiency with Adobe. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Experience with ERP/accounting software. Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred.
