Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Campus Recreation & Wellness department on the Gainesville campus. Peer Health Educators will provide insights and strategies to help shape well-being messaging, help develop content for social media accounts, and plan events to support well-being initiatives. This position will work as part of the Peer Educator Network, operating out of Campus Recreation and Wellness, to plan, promote, and implement educational events and activities on various health issues. Campus Recreation and Wellness is committed to supporting the academic and personal success of students and will refer students to support resources as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain 10 assigned hours per week
• Plan, promote, and implement educational events and activities on various health issues, including supporting the Live Well UNG initiative.
• Maintain organized calendar of upcoming presentations and events.
• Make sure that all events and presentations are properly planned and approved by your supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• The ideal candidate should have an interest in well-being, be interested in leading a group of peer volunteers in addressing health issues relevant among UNG students, and must possess a strong desire to affect change in health behaviors through creative and effective health promotion activities, as well as the following:
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and to be able to communicate.

Required Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
