Assignment Breakdown – PCU RN (Jewish Hospital, UofL)

Position: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse
Facility: Jewish Hospital – UofL Health
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 3x12s, 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 Weeks (Long-Term Contract)
Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
First-Time Travelers: Accepted

Unit Details

• Unit: 6 East PCU
• Beds: 16
• Patient Population: General Med-Surg and Progressive Care patients
• Common Diagnoses: Variety of medical conditions requiring PCU-level monitoring
• Patient Ratio: 1:5

Required Experience & Certifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year RN experience required
• First-time travelers welcome

Required Certifications

• BLS
• NIHSS

Required Clinical Skills

Candidates must be comfortable with:

• Trach care
• Chest tube management
• Peripheral IV (PIV) starts
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
• Non-titratable drips

Equipment & EMR

• EMR: Cerner
• IV Pumps: Plum ICU Medical
• Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
• Equipment: WOWs (Workstations on Wheels), Point-of-Care Glucose Testing

Floating

• Required
• May float to similar Med-Surg/PCU units as needed

Scheduling & Orientation

• Every 3rd weekend required
• No call requirement
• Holidays based on unit needs
• RTO requires Nurse Manager approval
• Approximately 5 days of facility/unit orientation
