ELA/MATH MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER

Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Job Description Reports To: Principal Purpose: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. Responsibilities Manage Instructional Time : Have materials ready, start class quickly, maintain high student time‑on‑task. Manage Student Behavior : Establish rules/procedures, monitor behavior, address inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining dignity. Instructional Presentation : Review previous material, introduce objectives, present lessons fluently, provide examples, assign tasks, ask appropriate questions, set pace, transition smoothly, summarize main points. Monitor Student Performance : Set standards, circulate during work, use assessments, pose questions clearly. Provide Instructional Feedback : Give feedback on in‑class and out‑of‑class work, affirm correct responses, probe for incorrect responses. Facilitate Instruction : Align instructional plan with curriculum, use diagnostic data, document performance, use resources to support program. Interact in Educational Environment : Treat students fairly, interact effectively with students, coworkers, parents, and community. Perform Non‑Instructional Duties : Carry out assigned duties, follow laws and policies, pursue professional development. Qualifications Degree in education or related field qualifying for licensure by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Physical ability to use classroom equipment and perform light work. Ability to compare and judge data, people, or things. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Reading, writing, and preparing instructional materials. Logical and scientific thinking. Verbal aptitude in technical languages. Numerical aptitude and ability to apply statistics. Spatial and motor coordination skills. Color discrimination. Adaptability under stress and emergency situations. Effective verbal communication, including telephone use. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Constantly monitor safety and well‑being of students. Motivate students. Maintain a clean and orderly environment. Perform general clerical duties and operate office machines. Maintain files and records. Follow oral and written instructions.
