Phlebotomist

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical/Phlebotomy - Perform approved specimen collection procedures, point‑of‑care testing services and processing. Provide education/information and support to patients and families concerning tests and specimen acquisition. Assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research. Customer Service - Act as patient advocate and meet patient/family needs. Provide information concerning patients admitted to, referred to/from, transferred to/from, or discharged from home unit. Provide emotional support to patients/families as needed. Utilize a customer focus in completing assignments, communicate in a courteous and conscientious manner, and promptly attend to requests and concerns. Collaboration - Work cooperatively with others to achieve goals. Proactively adjust one’s style and efforts to complement those of others. Develop positive working relationships, interact in a respectful, professional manner, share knowledge and support team members, and contribute to a positive professional work environment. Professional Development - Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, conferences, meetings, in‑services, networking, literature, and seminars. Attend all mandatory CCHMC training sessions, implement obtained knowledge/skills in work, and pursue personal professional growth. May participate in internal/external committees, agencies, councils, or activities. Compliance - Understand and comply with applicable policies, guidelines, regulations, and accreditation standards. Document compliance, maintain CCHMC Core Standards and code of ethics, and ensure work areas are organized, safe, accessible, effective, and efficient for employees, patients, and families. To primarily provide phlebotomy and other lab sample collection in addition to other laboratory support functions in the Clinical Laboratory department of a Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
