Accounting Associate

LHH is working with a client in the real estate/construction industry to identify a permanent Accounting Associate for their Chicago office (near River North). This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their accounting career in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 1–2 years of relevant experience and strong Excel skills. Our client is committed to team development and long-term growth. Role: Accounting Associate Location: Chicago, IL (near River North) Position Type: Permanent Worksite Type: fully onsite Key Responsibilities: Review and enter invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding Process weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers Manage utility accounts and complete credit card statement reconciliations Process accounts payable and employee expense reimbursements Investigate and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies Maintain organized financial records, both digital and physical Assist with bank deposits and cash applications Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries Prepare and post entries to the general ledger Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance Minimum 2–3 years of hands‑on accounting experience (real estate or construction industry experience required) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs preferred) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Familiarity with general accounting principles and procedures Ability to analyze data and solve problems independently Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment Preferred: Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Yardi, or Concur Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
