Job Description

Internal Medicine – F4

The Internal Medicine Unit consists of 20 beds and specializes in treating conditions such as sepsis, digestive disorders, heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, liver disorders, diabetes and pneumonia. This unit sees a diverse population of patients, which offers learning every day for the team. The staff places a high priority on teamwork, support and providing compassionate care. The nurses foster a unit of collaboration with the nursing assistants that sets them apart from others.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Ready to make a real difference? Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), you'll perform essential patient care duties that directly impact safety, comfort, and recovery outcomes. As a vital member of the care team, you'll bring meaningful insights to help the RN plan and implement individualized patient care. You'll jump into action when emergent situations arise, following established procedures with clinical judgment and composure. You'll embrace continuing education opportunities to expand your clinical knowledge and skills. Throughout your role, you'll embody the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence, bringing professionalism, compassion, and dedication to every patient interaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Deliver compassionate, hands-on patient care under RN supervision—keeping patient safety, comfort, and dignity front and center
• Help patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, toileting, and mobility support (you'll be their go-to person!)
• Monitor and report patient vital signs, observations, and changes in condition to the RN with accuracy and sharp attention to detail
• Team up with the nursing crew to implement care plans and share valuable insights about what patients need and prefer
• Jump into action when emergent situations happen, following established protocols and supporting the clinical team like a pro
• Keep patient environments clean, safe, and organized—creating spaces that promote healing and prevent infection
• Connect with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members through empathetic and professional communication
• Dive into continuing education and professional development opportunities to level up your clinical skills and stay on top of best practices

Qualifications

Education/Experience : 

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Must meet one of the following required criteria: 
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)) but perform the same job role.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
  • At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
  • May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license

Certifications/Licensures : 

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license preferred.
