Nursing ManagerAurora Behavioral Health System | Tempe, ArizonaFull-Time | On-SiteAurora Behavioral Health System is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nursing Manager to join our clinical leadership team in Tempe, Arizona.If you are a dedicated nursing professional who enjoys leading teams, developing staff, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients receiving behavioral healthcare, this is an opportunity to grow your leadership career with Aurora.The Nursing Manager is responsible for the daily clinical and operational oversight of an assigned nursing unit. This position provides leadership, direction, and support to nursing staff while ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care and compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of nursing practice.The Nursing Manager works closely with the Director of Nursing, physicians, behavioral health professionals, and other hospital departments to promote excellent patient outcomes and a safe, therapeutic environment.Key ResponsibilitiesNursing & Clinical LeadershipProvide day-to-day leadership and clinical oversight for an assigned nursing unit.Supervise, coach, mentor, and support Registered Nurses, Behavioral Health Technicians, and other assigned clinical staff.Ensure patients receive safe, compassionate, individualized, and high-quality care.Monitor patient care and nursing practices to ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards.Ensure appropriate staffing based on patient census, acuity, and clinical needs.Collaborate with the Staffing Coordinator and nursing leadership to address staffing needs and coverage.Participate in clinical rounds and remain visible and accessible to patients and staff.Support nurses in managing complex patient care situations and clinical concerns.Provide guidance and support during emergencies, behavioral health crises, and changes in patient condition.Promote evidence-based nursing practices and positive patient outcomes.Patient Care & SafetyPromote a safe, therapeutic, and respectful environment for patients and staff.Ensure patients are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.Monitor compliance with patient rights and applicable behavioral health regulations.Address patient and family concerns promptly and appropriately.Follow up on incidents, safety concerns, and patient complaints.Ensure appropriate documentation of patient care and clinical interventions.Identify potential safety risks and take appropriate corrective action.Promote a culture of patient safety throughout the unit.Staff Management & DevelopmentProvide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to nursing staff.Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.Address performance, attendance, and conduct concerns in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and Human Resources.Identify opportunities for employee development and professional growth.Assist with orientation and onboarding of new nursing staff.Ensure staff maintain required competencies, certifications, and training.Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and respectful communication.Recognize and encourage employees who demonstrate exceptional performance.Help create a positive work environment that supports employee engagement and retention.Quality Improvement & ComplianceMonitor clinical quality and identify opportunities for improvement.Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and performance improvement activities.Review incidents, trends, and patient care concerns and assist in developing corrective actions.Ensure staff follow hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Assist with preparation for regulatory and accreditation surveys.Monitor nursing documentation for accuracy and completeness.Participate in departmental meetings and quality initiatives.Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with the Director of Nursing and other nursing leaders.Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, behavioral health professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.Maintain effective communication between shifts and departments.Communicate important patient care and staffing concerns to appropriate leadership.Participate in nursing and hospital leadership meetings as assigned.Promote positive relationships between nursing staff and other departments.Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.Administrative & Operational ResponsibilitiesAssist with daily staffing and scheduling needs.Monitor attendance and ensure appropriate staffing coverage.Assist with maintaining appropriate staffing levels based on patient acuity.Ensure required administrative and clinical documentation is completed accurately and timely.Assist with inventory and appropriate utilization of supplies and resources.Promote cost-effective use of departmental resources.Participate in staff meetings and communicate organizational updates to the nursing team.Assist the Director of Nursing with implementation of departmental goals and initiatives.QualificationsEducationBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.Master's degree in nursing or a related field preferred.ExperienceMinimum 2 years of professional nursing experience required.Previous psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience strongly preferred.Previous nursing leadership, charge nurse, supervisor, or management experience preferred.Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach, and support clinical staff.Licensure & CertificationsCurrent, unrestricted Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license required.Current CPR certification required.Must meet applicable fingerprint clearance requirements.Current negative TB test or required medical clearance.Must meet all applicable Aurora Behavioral Health System employment requirements.Must be at least
