Contracts Clerk -- Automotive Accounting

Johnson Service Group is looking to hire a detail-oriented and experienced Auto Dealership Contracts Clerk for a growing dealership. Onsite | $30 - $35 per hour depending on experience | Contract to Hire We are seeking an experienced Contracts Clerk with strong automotive accounting experience to support a high-volume, multi-store dealership environment. This role is responsible for receiving, processing, verifying, and posting vehicle deals, while also supporting schedule cleanup, reconciliation, bank funding, sales tax verification, commissions, and month-end reporting.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and post up to 250+ car deals per month
• Review deal paperwork for accuracy and compliance
• Post bank fundings daily
• Calculate sales commissions for payroll
• Pay off flooring of sold vehicles daily
• Complete end-of-month car count and verification
• Issue deal check requests
• Post factory program monies and reserves
• Provide sales tax exception backup and verify sales tax in deals daily
• Research, clean up, and reconcile accounting schedules, including: New and used inventory Reserves Due Bill Contracts in Transit
• Support schedule cleanup and reconciliation projects as needed
• Work closely with accounting, sales, finance, and dealership operations teams
• Maintain accurate records and follow up on outstanding items

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of automotive accounting experience required
• Prior experience as a Contracts Clerk, Automotive Accounting Clerk, Dealership Accounting Clerk, or similar role preferred
• Experience with schedule cleanup and reconciliation strongly preferred
• Strong accounting skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Positive attitude and professional demeanor
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized with strong follow-up skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume atmosphere
