Staff R&D Engineer-Predictive Engineering & Validation - Electrophysiology

Abbott

Abbott seeks a Staff R&D Engineer to lead advanced bench testing strategy and execution for electrophysiology medical devices in Plymouth, Minnesota. The role involves developing innovative test methods, establishing technical roadmaps, and serving as a subject matter expert across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Lead strategy, development, and implementation of advanced bench testing capabilities for electrophysiology therapies
Establish technical roadmaps expanding bench testing to generate high-quality, decision-driving data
Develop innovative test methods and experimental platforms replicating clinically relevant conditions
Partner with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, and Product Development teams to align testing strategies
Mentor engineers and scientists in experimental design, data analysis, and bench testing best practices

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or related field
8+ years medical device product development, testing, research, or engineering experience
Demonstrated leadership of complex technical initiatives influencing cross-functional teams
Strong experimental design, engineering fundamentals, and data-driven decision-making knowledge
Experience developing and executing laboratory or bench testing methodologies
Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills evaluating complex technical challenges
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities
