Position Summary The Student Success and Engagement Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing undergraduate education, experiential learning, and student engagement within the Department of Horticultural Sciences. The position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and assessing high‑impact learning experiences, as well as student recruitment, admissions, retention, and outreach initiatives. The coordinator collaborates with faculty, staff, industry partners, and external stakeholders to deliver high‑quality educational and academic engagement experiences. Academic Program and Administrative Support Coordinate course and room scheduling, instructor assignments, enrollment capacities, and enrollment restrictions to support smooth program delivery and academic program logistics. Coordinate activities with the chairs of the departmental curriculum committees. Maintain program records, databases, and communication lists. Support development and revision of program materials (websites, newsletters). Program assessment and evaluation: Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of departmental programs as well as high‑impact learning initiatives, programs, and experiences, and make recommendations for improvement based on evaluation results. Work with the Undergraduate Assessment committee and ADH for undergraduate programs to summarize data and coordinate assessment committee meetings. Support curriculum and program management, including new course and section creation, syllabi review, course renewals and revisions, undergraduate program creation, catalog and undergraduate handbook updates, and course compliance reviews. Provide undergraduate program overviews during new student orientation and prospective student visits to include course requirements, certificate programs, career tracks, internship and scholarship opportunities, and more. Represent the department at COALS UPC meetings. Experiential Learning and Student Engagement Coordinate high‑impact learning experiences that promote student engagement, professional development, and career readiness. Work with faculty to support experiential education activities such as internships, undergraduate research experiences, and career development programming. Assist with student preparation, communication, and follow‑up related to experiential learning opportunities. Serve as a primary point of contact for student success initiatives (non‑academic advising). Assist faculty in the development of international and study abroad opportunities with the Education Abroad Office and College International Programs coordinator; develop informational materials to assist students in making decisions regarding international experiences; recruit students for international opportunities. Program and Project Coordination Plan, coordinate, and support departmental projects and initiatives related to undergraduate programs and student engagement. Manage day‑to‑day operations of experiential learning programs, including student placement, tracking participation, and monitoring completion requirements. Create and maintain accurate records, documentation, and tracking for assigned programs and events. Assist Department Head and ADHs by having knowledge of University and College policies and procedures and departmental degree requirements. Provide input and assistance for development and revision of informational materials, including program handbooks, webpages, catalog pages, applications, forms, newsletters and other materials. Maintain records of student contacts. Communication and Collaboration Serve as a key point of contact for undergraduate program activities and student engagement initiatives. Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners using written and verbal communication. Work collaboratively within the department to support broader educational and outreach goals. Maintain undergraduate and graduate emailing lists to facilitate communications. Other Duties Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of related experience. Strong organizational, project coordination, and multitasking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency with standard office software, learning management system, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education, student success, or experiential learning programs; experience working with undergraduate student programs or community engagement initiatives. Familiarity with experiential learning or career development programming. Knowledge of horticulture, agriculture, or related disciplines (preferred but not required). Supervision Received/Given This position may supervise employees. Work Environment This position operates in a collaborative academic environment and involves coordination with faculty, staff, students, and external partners. Scheduled travel, evening or weekend work will be required to support events and outreach activities.
