Director - Equity Flow Vol Strat

Job Description Purpose of the Role As part of the buildout of a global equity derivative strategist team, we are looking for an experienced hire to supplement internal talent. This candidate will directly contribute research on a number of key initiatives while expanding the existing US Flow platform globally and cross product. Accountabilities Development and implementation of quantitative models and strategies to derive insight into market trends and optimize trading decisions, pricing, and risk management across various financial products and markets. Working closely with sales teams to identify clients’ needs and develop customised solutions. In‑depth research, data analysis, and statistical modelling to derive insights into market trends, pricing, and risk dynamics. Providing front‑office infrastructure support through ownership and maintenance of analytical libraries. Provision of expertise on quantitative methodologies, technological advancements, and industry best practices to drive innovation within the trading environment. Expand the existing US Flow research platform and analysis globally and cross product. Contribute to vega internalisation and strategy around identifying which positions to hold or liquidate. Expand the existing back‑testing setup to minimise overall portfolio variance, reduce impact costs, and improve return metrics. Expectations Manage a business function, providing significant input to function‑wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, managing and consulting on multiple complex and critical strategic projects. Lead organisation‑wide projects and act as a deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross‑functionally. Train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long‑term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions. Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence external decisions. Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub‑function. Escalate breaches of policies/processes appropriately and foster compliance with regulations and relevant processes. Monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays in the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups. Use advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in complex or sensitive situations. Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level internally and externally.
