Food Service Clerk

Purpose of Position: To ensure efficient processing of patient meal orders in support of effective department operations.

Description:

1. Receives diet orders from the facility's electronic medical record, confirms patient's name, room number and diet order upon receipt and verify information has interfaced correctly with the Nutrition & Food Services computer system. 2. Manually enters ER patients and diet orders into the Nutrition & Food Services computer system. Removes ER discharged patients and diet orders from the Nutrition & Food Services computer system. 3. Answers phone calls, using good telephone etiquette: a. Identifies patient using 2 patient identifiers (name and room number/date of birth) b. Informs patient of current diet order c. Takes meal order and assists in menu selection including assisting the patient as to what the prescribed diet allows, utilizing resources available (recipe book, ingredient list, nutrient analysis in the department's computer system). 4. Visits patients who are designated as Room Service Assist and obtain necessary meal orders from patient. 5. Manually enters meal orders for all patients designated as "non-select" for all 3 meals with correct ready-at-times. 6. Act as a liaison between patients, clinical staff, dietitian and/or food service personnel regarding special requests or feedback obtained from patients. 7. Informs Dietitian of patient meal orders that may result in altered nutritional status. 8. Informs cooks and kitchen staff of any special room service orders. 9. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers. 10. Performs additional duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English. • Demonstrates ability to speak English clearly. • Demonstrates Basic computer skills. • Basic math skills. • Completion of nutrition module with successful passage of the nutrition module exam, within three (3) months of hire.

Schedule Details: 32 Hours Per Week, Rotating Days, Rotating Start Times, 6:00a-2:00p, 6:15a-9:15a, 10:45a-6:45p, 3:45p-6:45p, Every Other Weekend, Occasional Holidays
