Water Resource Engineer

About the Role Our client is seeking a dedicated Water Resource Engineer to join their environmental and infrastructure division based in Welkom . This role is critical for managing and optimizing water resources for municipal and industrial clients, focusing on sustainable water supply, wastewater management, and flood control. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of water projects, from initial assessment and planning through to design and implementation. The position requires a proactive individual passionate about environmental stewardship and ensuring the efficient use of water resources in the Free State region. Key Responsibilities Design and implement water supply systems , wastewater treatment plants, and stormwater management solutions. Conduct hydrological studies, water quality assessments, and impact analyses. Develop and manage hydraulic models for water distribution networks and river systems. Ensure projects comply with environmental regulations and water use licenses. Prepare feasibility reports, design documentation, and tender specifications. Collaborate with environmental scientists, government agencies, and community stakeholders. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on water resources. Minimum of 6 years of experience in water resource management and engineering design. Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, EPANET) and GIS. Strong understanding of South African water legislation and environmental policies. Experience with dam design, pipeline systems, and treatment technologies is advantageous.
