Job Title: OB/GYN Laborist

An OB/GYN Laborist is a board-certified specialist in obstetrics and gynecology who delivers inpatient care to women during labor, childbirth, and the early postpartum phase. Unlike conventional OB/GYN practitioners, laborists operate solely within hospital environments, providing round-the-clock coverage to guarantee prompt and secure obstetric services.

• Deliver comprehensive inpatient obstetric care, which encompasses managing labor, performing vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and overseeing postpartum care.
• Conduct obstetric triage assessments and address obstetric emergencies as they arise.
• Work collaboratively with nursing personnel, midwives, and fellow physicians to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care.
• Provide coverage for local OB/GYNs who are unavailable during their patients' labor.
• Oversee care for patients without a designated obstetrician or those who are unassigned.
• Engage in quality improvement projects and assist in formulating labor and delivery protocols.
• Offer educational support to residents, medical students, and nursing staff as required.

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a four-year residency program in OB/GYN.
• Board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Current state medical license and DEA registration.
• Advanced training in high-risk obstetrics or maternal-fetal medicine is advantageous.

• Proficient clinical skills in labor and delivery, including emergency response capabilities.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to operate independently and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Dedication to patient safety and adherence to evidence-based practices.

Positions typically involve shift work (e.g., 12- or 24-hour shifts), which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Opportunities for both full-time and part-time roles may be available.
