Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical - Client Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of recent experience required License: NM/Compact license accepted (must be obtained prior to start) Certifications: BLS, NIHSS required, CPI preferred Must-Have: - Nurse to patient ratio experience: 1:6 - Patient population: Adults, Geriatrics - Charting system experience: Epic Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in medical-surgical neurology. The nurse will work night shifts consisting of 12-hour rotations. The contract duration is for 13 weeks. The unit has a nurse to patient ratio of 1:6. Rapid response team activation is expected as needed. The unit is accepting first-time travelers. No call duties are required, but floating to like units may be necessary. The unit consists of 32 beds. The daily census is approximately 32 patients. A minimum of 6 weekend shifts are required within a 6-week period. Nurses will be required to manage various patient care tasks including, but not limited to, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and colostomy care. Experience with high flow nasal cannula and insulin administration is also necessary. Additional responsibilities include maintaining IVs, surgical drains, and overall wound care. Interdisciplinary support includes various services such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. All travelers should be prepared for a brief orientation upon arrival to the unit. Travelers are expected to comply with any necessary lab requirements within 48 business hours of signing the contract.
