About the Position

Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of experience required; first-timers accepted License: Valid state license preferred; pending license accepted Certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC) Must-Have: - Experience in accessing and managing ports - Experience with administration of chemotherapy - Familiarity with patient education and support Description: This position is for an Oncology Registered Nurse. The nurse will work a night shift from 19:00 to 07:30. The nurse will care for adult oncology patients. The average daily census is 20 patients. The patient ratio on nights is 5.5 patients per nurse. The nurse will administer chemotherapy and manage side effects. The nurse will coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams. Education and support for patients and families will be vital. The nurse will float within the facility to meet needs as required. Weekend work will be required every third weekend. This is an inpatient oncology unit that also provides hospice and comfort care. The environment is a teaching hospital with a Level 3 trauma designation. Charting will be done using an electronic health record system. The position does not require on-call duties. Candidates must be able to handle various oncology-related clinical scenarios. Clinical duties include medication administration, monitoring, and patient assessments. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals is essential for patient care.
