Senior Lead Software Engineer - OpenShift Platform

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Experience delivering production services.
• Strong proficiency building production systems in Go and/or Python.
• Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals, including API design, concurrency, failure modes, idempotency, retries, timeouts, and observability.
• Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes and containers, including Kubernetes primitives, client libraries, manifests, Helm or Kustomize concepts, and deployment patterns.
• Experience building platform software for OpenShift or Kubernetes environments, such as platform APIs, automation services, and developer or platform tooling.
• Experience implementing CI/CD practices and toolchains for platform software, including testing, release versioning, rollback strategies, and GitOps patterns.
• Experience with GitOps and pipeline tools such as Argo CD, Tekton, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalents.
• Experience applying secure engineering practices to platform services, including authentication and authorization, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for infrastructure engineering, with careful validation and awareness of data sensitivity.
• Ability to review AI-assisted recommendations, validate them before implementation, escalate uncertainty, and ensure outcomes meet resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
• Familiarity with OpenShift development or operations, including Operators, RBAC/SCC considerations, and routes or ingress patterns.
• Experience developing Operators or controllers, particularly with Go and controller-runtime patterns.
• Experience building internal developer platforms, including portals, scaffolding, golden paths, policy-as-code, or automation frameworks.
• Security-minded engineering experience, including authentication and authorization, secrets management, SBOM or signing concepts, and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience with multi-cluster and multi-environment platform strategies that create consistent user experiences across on-premises and public cloud environments.
• Interest in innovation, AI-assisted engineering, and continuous improvement that measurably improves quality and delivery speed.

• Design and implement platform services for workload onboarding and lifecycle management, including provisioning, policies and guardrails, quotas, templates, and golden paths.
• Build Kubernetes-native automation, including custom controllers and Operators where appropriate.
• Connect platform services with identity, secrets, policy, observability, and CMDB or service-catalog patterns as needed.
• Create tools and services for multi-cluster operations, cluster onboarding, configuration standardization, and compliance reporting.
• Implement CI/CD for platform software, applying rigorous testing, code review, static analysis, release versioning, and rollback practices.
• Work with infrastructure engineers to define reliability and performance requirements and reduce operational friction through automation and clear interfaces.
• Deliver secure, high-quality production code for scalable and reliable private cloud infrastructure services.
• Develop architecture and design artifacts for complex platform components and ensure implementation meets defined constraints.
• Document platform capabilities with clear documentation, examples, and reference implementations to encourage adoption.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to analyze complex infrastructure signals and document mitigation options, validating outputs and handling operational data according to its sensitivity and security requirements.
• Promote reuse-first AI-assisted practices across delivery and automation workflows to reduce recurring issues, ensuring changes are validated, traceable, auditable, and consistent with resiliency and security expectations.
