Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU

Position Purpose

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU provides post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Main OR of a Level 1 Trauma Center.

What You Will Do

• Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, and other critical surgeries.
• Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and transfer readiness.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
• Valid RN license in Connecticut.
• Ideal candidates will have 2 or more years of experience in the Inpatient PACU nursing, with a detailed history of expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's in Nursing.
• BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC).
• ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire).
• Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines.

Important Consideration ***

This role is not designed for new graduates or those seeking training for the Main PACU requirements. Candidates must be able to function independently in the PACU.
