Ohio Emergency Medical Services Director (Deputy Director 5) Organization : Public Safety Location : Charles D Shipley Building, 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43223-1102 Compensation : $24.01 to $82.71 per hour Schedule : Full-time, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on‑call 24 hours Primary Job Skills : Executive Leadership, Fire & EMS Responsibilities Plan, design, and manage a comprehensive statewide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) division according to established laws, rules, and standards. Develop budgets and plans for adequate personnel, facilities, equipment, and supplies to ensure efficient operation of the division. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure certification of all Emergency Medical Technicians, Firefighters, Fire Safety Inspectors, and Instructors. Oversee the accreditation of training for Emergency Medical Technicians, Firefighters, Fire Safety Inspectors, and Instructors through delegation of duties and responsibilities to staff. Serve as Chief Executive Officer of the State Board of EMFTS. Attend State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services (EMFTS) meetings. Testify in legislative hearings on proposed legislation that could affect the division and departmental programs. Qualifications Proven ability to lead a state‑level board, commission, nonprofit association, or similar organization, preferably with emphasis on Fire or EMS. Strong executive leadership, collaboration, decision making, ability to lead others, public speaking, and teamwork skills. Relevant experience in emergency medical services or public safety leadership is preferred. The duties performed are critical to the operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency.
