Plona Partners is partnering with a prominent Am Law 100 firm on a search for a Senior Practice Management Specialist to support the strategic, financial and operational management of several sophisticated transactional practices.

The individual stepping into this seat will work closely with Practice Group Leaders, Department Heads and senior firm leadership on the business behind the practice — financial performance, budgeting, attorney utilization, business planning, lateral integration, reporting and strategic initiatives. For someone building a long-term career in law firm Practice Management, Business Operations or Practice Group Administration, this is the type of exposure that matters.

THE ROLE

You'll serve as a key liaison between Practice Group Leadership and administrative departments across the firm while helping leadership understand and improve the performance of their practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Driving strategic and operational initiatives across transactional Practice Groups

• Leading and coordinating annual Practice Group budgeting

• Preparing financial reports, variance analyses and spend summaries for leadership

• Monitoring attorney allocations, Practice Group budgets and business development spend

• Analyzing utilization, expenses and other operational performance metrics

• Supporting Practice Group and individual attorney business planning

• Building and improving reporting tools used by Practice Group leadership

• Supporting lateral attorney onboarding and Practice Group integration

• Coordinating attorney departure and transition processes

• Preparing leadership meetings, financial updates and strategic follow-up

• Working cross-functionally with Finance, Recruiting, HR, Marketing & Business Development, Professional Development, Pricing, Innovation, IT and Knowledge Services

• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and operational efficiency

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Ideal candidates will bring:

• 3+ years of Practice Management or professional-services operations experience

• Law firm experience strongly preferred

• Bachelor's degree

• Strong financial and operational analytical capabilities

• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP

• Experience analyzing budgets, utilization and performance metrics

• Confidence communicating with partners and senior firm leadership

• Exceptional organization and attention to detail

• Strong judgment, discretion and problem-solving ability

• The ability to independently manage multiple high-priority projects
