Overview

The Security Clerk II plays a critical role in supporting security operations at one of the nation's most secure and mission-critical facilities. In this position, you will assist with badging, credentialing, access control, personnel security, and visitor management functions that help safeguard federal employees, visitors, and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, verify, and process access badge requests and associated documentation.
• Ensure badge requests are complete, accurate, and properly approved in accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) requirements.
• Review and process Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential applications and supporting documentation.
• Complete credentialing documentation following identity verification procedures.
• Conduct applicant identity-proofing and enrollment activities using credential management systems and enrollment stations.
• Produce, issue, activate, and distribute PIV credentials while maintaining strict accountability and security controls.
• Provide credential activation assistance and user guidance to badge applicants as required.
• Maintain security records, databases, logs, and related documentation.
• Support access control, visitor management, personnel security, and emergency operations functions.
• Protect sensitive, confidential, and personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Assist with audits, compliance reviews, inspections, and record validation activities.
• Support daily security office operations and ensure accurate tracking of credentialing activities.
• Respond to routine security-related inquiries from employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience providing administrative and customer service support, preferably within an administrative, security, badging, credentialing, visitor processing, or related environment.
• Intermediate-level computer skills, including experience working with multiple worksheets, filtering data, using integrated functions, maintaining databases, and generating reports.
• Strong aptitude for learning credentialing, access control, and visitor management systems, including GSA USAccess, Identiv Velocity, EasyLobby, and similar programs.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive, confidential, and personally identifiable information.
• Ability to successfully complete required training, background investigation, suitability determination, and HSPD-12 identity-proofing requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the facility access and security clearance required for the assigned position.
• Final Personnel Security clearance is required before performing credentialing functions.

• The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
• During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
