Adult Program ApprenticeDepartment: EducationProgram: Community EducationReports to: Workforce Development CoordinatorEmployment Status: TemporaryFLSA Status: Non-ExemptSchedule: 40 Hours/52 WeeksPreference: TERO Ordinance 2017-01, P.L. 93-638Job SummaryUnder the direction and supervision of the Workforce Development Coordinator, the Adult Program Apprentice position will participate in up to 360 hour apprenticeship. The Adult Program Apprentice who will be 18 or older will be placed in a learning and supportive role within departments in the Kenaitze Indian Tribe or with external partner organizations and will be actively working towards college, career, or technical education goals. Placements offer an educational experience, opportunities to build on the job skills, career readiness, and gain exposure to the Kenaitze Indian Tribe's services and operational processes. The Adult Program Apprentice will work hours that accommodate their placement needs and help meet their personal goals. In addition, they will attend workshops and learning opportunities through the workforce development program that augment their educational and employment goals.Essential FunctionsBe a current Workforce Development program participantWork with Workforce Development Coordinators to ensure job readinessPersonal, academic and educational goal setting with active participation and follow throughActive participation in program and internship placementsSupport placement department staff in day to day programmatic activities and fulfill duties as assignedMaintain working relationship with on-site/placement supervisorMeet all expectations of on-site placementAttend weekly supervisory check-ins with the Workforce Development CoordinatorWork as a positive team member within the Workforce Development Program and all other participating departmentsModel appropriate behavior and positively represent the Tribe and its programsEnsures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinanceIt is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all-inclusive list.
