The nurse will provide autonomous nursing care, assessing and implementing appropriate nursing actions for patient populations with competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. Consistent with ANA Standards of Practice, the nurse will exercise independent judgment within an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The 4th floor of Jacobs Medical Center is a 36‑bed Surgical Progressive Care Unit specializing in advanced surgical procedures, oncology‑related surgeries, and abdominal transplant. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California Current BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications, with commitment to obtain ART within six (6) months of hire date Minimum one (1) year of recent acute‑care RN experience in a PCU, IMU, or telemetry unit Experience with kidney and liver transplant patients; if insufficient pool, candidates with other acute‑care experience may be considered provided they have more than one year of recent acute‑care PCU RN experience Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately complex problems to develop potential solutions Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients Ability to handle critical and/or urgent situations with accuracy, expediency, and speed, and tact Ability to critically handle unexpected challenges and create plausible solutions in a team‑centered environment Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate outcomes Excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents, both verbally and in writing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

BSN degree PCCN, OCN, Med/​Surg, or CCRN certifications Two (2+) or more years of RN experience in acute‑care PCU or IMU Experience with liver and kidney transplant or surgical oncology patients

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call, and at various locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center's business needs Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical exam Per‑diem shift requirement is an average of one shift per week per four‑week schedule; must be available for one weekend shift per four‑week schedule and a minimum of one holiday; this may change based on department needs
