The 4th floor of Jacobs Medical Center hosts a 36‑bed Surgical Progressive Care Unit specializing in advanced surgical procedures, oncology‑related surgeries and abdominal transplant. The nurse will deliver autonomous nursing care consistent with ANA Standards of Practice, utilizing interdisciplinary approaches. Duties will include assessment and nursing actions for patient care populations, prioritizing clinically complex patients, and maintaining high standards of practice. Minimum Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. RN license issued by the State of California. BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire; obtain ART within six months. Minimum one year recent acute care RN experience in PCU, IMU, or Telemetry. Experience with kidney and liver transplant patients (alternative experience may be considered). Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment with excellent interpersonal communication. Demonstrated ability to handle critical/urgent situations with accuracy and speed. Critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions. Effective communication and influencing skills with staff, physicians, patients and external constituents. Preferred Qualifications BSN degree. PCCN, OCN, Med/Surg, or CCRN certifications. Two or more years of RN experience in acute care PCU or IMU. Experience with liver and kidney transplant or surgical oncology patients. Special Conditions Work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call and locations as required by the 24‑hour medical center. Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending Nurse Executive Council approval.
