DEPT: EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Educational Services Job Goal: Performs skilled/professional consultation, planning and implementation functions under limited supervision to provide resources, programs, information, and advisement that will enhance awareness for career and job opportunities for students. In addition, this position will assist in the operations of the Career Tech local programs at the secondary levels, as well as some other elective course offerings. This position will provide assistance to various sites in regard to program requirements and opportunities, career exploration, and career portfolios. This individual will be seek to form relationships with community partners to help create opportunities for students to access internships. An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity and good judgment when dealing with the complexity of the jobs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help to oversee all aspects of the Carl Perkins Grant and be responsible for the Performance Measures and Goals as stated in the grant are met or exceeded.
- Assist with the coordination and supervision of guidelines and requirements for the district Career Tech programs; help to ensure success in implementing program standards, and serve as a contact for the school district and a liaison with the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.
- Consult with and assist district staff and parents concerning Career and Technology Issues.
- Attend workshops, in-services and conferences that relate to Career and Technology Issues.
- Serve as the designated Testing Liaison for the competency testing in the district Career Tech programs.
- Provide professional development and in-service opportunities for the Career Tech program instructors during designated local in-service meeting times, and assist with extended opportunities as available.
- Recruit, coordinate and instruct students for the Professional Internship Program.
- Be available to provide both resources and classroom group career awareness and job opportunities and employability skills information as requested.
- Assist students in the development of career portfolios and provide additional uses of the "Explore" and "Plan" tests information.
- Be available to parents to help explore and interpret career path opportunities for their children.
- Serve on the Educational Services Instructional Team.
- Develop initiatives and strategies to improve program recruitment and assist in recruitment activities as needed.
- Assist in textbook information distribution, review, selection and obtaining resources for the Career Tech programs as needed.
- Serve as an Educational Services liaison to the middle school and high school counselor meetings, and as a resource to these counselors for career tech and career planning issues.
- Lead district ICAP Committee and Implementation
- Lead and organize the Early College Program
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
- Be student focused to resolve problems effectively
- Manage human resources and diversity while promoting productivity and efficiency; employee training and development, empowerment, and appraisal, corrective counseling and intervention
- Manage information and communications with staff and public effectively
- Conduct short and long range planning to set and /or attain district goals and objectives
- Demonstrate leadership by being a good role model to reinforce productive and student-focused behavior; use creativity, innovation, and initiative to identify solutions to problems
- Be a team player with co-workers, subordinates, and community leaders to accomplish objectives or goals
- Manage compliance of the Carl Perkins Grant
- Sit in as a consultant/advisor on the secondary counselor meetings
