Residential Construction Foreman

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCorts Family Construction is a small, growing residential construction company based in Charlotte, Michigan. We’re looking for a Residential Construction Superintendent who knows construction, communicates well, and can keep jobs moving without needing someone to walk them through every step. This is a hands-on position. Some days you’ll be checking jobsites, coordinating subcontractors, and making sure the next phase is ready. Other days you’ll be installing trim, adjusting doors, completing punch-list items, or helping finish work that needs to get done. You’ll work directly with the owner and have a real role in how our projects come together. WHAT YOU’LL DO• Coordinate day-to-day field activities across residential construction projects. • Check job progress, workmanship, and readiness for upcoming trades and inspections. • Follow up with subcontractors, confirm schedules, and identify missing materials or unfinished work before they cause delays. • Read plans and scopes of work, recognize discrepancies, and ask questions before work moves forward. • Handle carpentry, trim, doors, repairs, punch-list work, and other tasks within your skill set. • Help keep jobsites safe, organized, and ready for the next step. • Communicate professionally with homeowners, subcontractors, inspectors, and the owner. • Provide clear updates, jobsite photos, and notes so everyone knows what is finished and what still needs attention. WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR• Someone with solid residential construction experience and practical knowledge of how a home comes together. • A dependable person who can organize their day and follow through without constant reminders. • Someone comfortable both coordinating work and doing it. • A problem-solver who spots issues early, takes ownership, and knows when to involve the owner. • Someone who can use a smartphone for photos, schedules, messages, and project updates. • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between assigned jobsites.Experience as a lead carpenter, working foreman, superintendent, or field manager is helpful. Your ability to do the work, communicate, and follow through matters more than your previous title. LOCATION AND SCHEDULEOur company is based in Charlotte, but our projects are located in multiple Michigan communities. Travel to assigned jobsites is part of the position, and you’ll generally report directly to the jobsite rather than an office. We’ll discuss project locations and travel expectations during the interview. The schedule is primarily weekdays. Occasional weekend calls or texts may be needed to address scheduling or jobsite questions.
