About the Position

Seeking a Locum Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner to provide weekend cardiac surgery coverage at an acute care hospital in Lebanon, PA.

• • • Ongoing locum opportunity
• • • Coverage needed approximately 3 weekends per month
• • • Adult patient population, age 18+
• • • Approximately 4 hours of callback per day including rounding
• • • EPIC EMR
• • • 163 bed hospital
• • • APP support available
• • • Surgeon available for backup following consultation
• • • Temporary privileges may be available for urgent needs with a clean file

• • • Provide 24 hour cardiac surgery call coverage
• • • Evaluate & manage cardiac surgery patients
• • • Perform patient rounding during call coverage
• • • Respond to urgent surgical consultations
• • • Evaluate patients arriving from the cardiac catheterization lab
• • • Assist with urgent cardiac surgical cases
• • • Support patients transitioning from ICU to home when clinically appropriate
• • • Perform vein harvesting as required
• • • Coordinate care with the cardiac surgery team
• • • Work alongside APP support staff
• • • Collaborate with the surgeon available for backup
• • • Document patient care accurately in EPIC

Requirements

• • • Nurse Practitioner with cardiac / cardiothoracic surgery experience
• • • Active Pennsylvania license required
• • • IMLC / LOQ in hand may be considered where applicable
• • • DEA required
• • • Minimum 3 years of experience required
• • • Acute Care certification is not required
• • • EPIC experience preferred
• • • Clean credentialing file preferred for temporary privileges
• • • Candidates must meet facility credentialing requirements

• • • 24 hour weekend call coverage
• • • Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM
• • • Approximately 3 weekends per month
• • • Current scheduled coverage includes October 23 at 5:00 PM through October 26 at 7:00 AM
• • • Additional coverage: October 30 at 5:00 PM through November 2 at 7:00 AM
• • • Average callback including rounding: approximately 4 hours per day
• • • Ongoing coverage available
