Senior Storage and Backup Engineer, AI-Enabled Automation

Location- Lake Mary, FL, Pittsburgh, PA or Jersey City NJ

Duration: 6 months

Pay $70 to 75/hr

Role Overview

• The Senior Storage and Backup Engineer, AI-Enabled Automation will design, build, and support AI-enabled automation workflows for enterprise storage and backup services. This role translates manual infrastructure processes into secure, self-service workflows that validate requests, execute provisioning activities, manage conditional logic, and communicate completion or failure.
• The client's internal orchestration platform will be learned as part of the engagement, so direct experience with that specific platform is not required. Candidates should instead demonstrate transferable experience with widely used automation technologies and a track record of converting operational procedures into production-grade automation.
• The successful candidate will partner with the client's storage, backup, infrastructure, security, and change management teams, and will work across US and India delivery teams to document solutions and ensure effective handoffs.

Key Responsibilities

• Build automated workflows supporting enterprise storage and backup services, including:

1. Block, file, and object storage
2. Backup provisioning
3. Storage reclamation
4. Volume expansion
5. Key rotation
6. Other storage lifecycle activities

• Use AI-enabled automation tools to accelerate workflow development, documentation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Convert operational procedures into self-service infrastructure workflows.
• Incorporate approvals, demand-management validation, production classification, capacity checks, and security controls.
• Develop conditional logic, task sequencing, return-code handling, exception paths, and automated notifications.
• Integrate workflows with infrastructure platforms through APIs, scripts, connectors, or automation modules.
• Test, troubleshoot, and maintain workflows through successful production execution.
• Apply appropriate human approval and governance controls to AI-assisted automation.
• Document solutions and provide effective handoffs between the US and India teams.

Required Skills

• Enterprise storage and backup engineering experience.
• Strong working knowledge of block, file, and object storage concepts.
• Storage provisioning, reclamation, expansion, and lifecycle management.
• Workflow orchestration and infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Python, PowerShell, APIs, or comparable automation technologies.
• Conditional logic, error handling, task sequencing, and workflow troubleshooting.
• AI-assisted development or automation experience.
• Experience operating within enterprise change, security, and governance controls.
• Strong documentation skills and effective cross-region communication.

Preferred Technology Experience

Experience with one or more of the following:

• Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Ansible Lightspeed
• Microsoft Copilot Studio or Power Automate
• ServiceNow Automation Center, Flow Designer, or AI capabilities
• GitHub Copilot for automation-code development
• Enterprise AI platforms such as Azure OpenAI, IBM watsonx, or comparable secured LLM environments
• Infrastructure-as-code and API-driven automation
