Engineer 2, Process Development

Illumina seeks a Process Engineer to join the Manufacturing Technology & Transfer group, developing and scaling robust manufacturing processes for genomic consumables. The role involves collaborating across R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams to optimize production processes and support new product commercialization in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with R&D and manufacturing teams to design robust, high-volume processes using Critical Parameter Management principles
- Design and execute controlled experiments including DOE to optimize processes and improve yield and quality
- Drive product and process change management activities and ERP configuration for product launches
- Conduct root cause investigations using 8D and statistical analysis to resolve technical and compliance issues
- Lead technical project teams and define documentation requirements for process transfer through commercialization
Requirements
- B.S./M.S. in Chemical, Biomedical, or Bioengineering/Material Science with 2+ years relevant experience
- Strong written and verbal communication with cross-functional collaboration capability
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE)
- High-volume manufacturing experience in high-tech consumables or related industry
- Familiarity with product development processes and project management methodologies
Compensation: $82,500 - $123,700 base
