Engineer 2 - Process Development

Illumina seeks a Process Development Engineer II to develop, characterize, and scale manufacturing processes for genomic consumable products. The role encompasses precision adhesive bonding, laser processing, automated assembly, and wire bonding, with responsibility for process transfer from development through production ramp.

Responsibilities

• Own process development workstreams from feasibility through production ramp, including characterization and validation
• Develop high-volume mechanical and assembly processes for adhesive bonding, laser processing, singulation, and cartridge assembly
• Translate product requirements into process specifications and control strategies using Critical Parameter Management
• Plan and execute DOE and controlled experiments to optimize yield, quality, and cycle time
• Support equipment qualification, tooling development, and production transfer; apply PFMEA, SPC, and capability analysis

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
• Two or more years of industry experience in process development, new product introduction, or production support
• Hands-on experience with precision mechanical assembly, adhesive bonding, laser micromachining, or automated pick-and-place
• Working knowledge of DOE, SPC, process capability analysis, and measurement system analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication with demonstrated cross-functional collaboration ability
• Ability to troubleshoot process interactions and implement practical manufacturing solutions

Compensation: $82,500 - $123,700 base
