The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for a full‑time Emergency Medicine Physician. Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the "Ark‑La‑Tex", the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. Candidates must be highly motivated, team‑oriented, and committed to the care and good health of our Veterans. Highlights of this position include:

• $335,000 - $340,000 per year – competitive starting salary
• Work schedule: varies
• Perform appropriate medical screening exam on all patients checked in to be seen in the Emergency Department
• Demonstrate the ability to recognize the need for timely consultation, admission, and specialized patient care
• Provide continuity of care by performing patient hand‑off when transferring care of patient to another physician
• Accurately interpret and evaluate clinical data for diagnosis and clinical status
• Recognize changes in behavior, symptoms, signs, and modify treatment plan in real time
• Act quickly to recognize emergency situations and make timely corrective action
• Maintain clear, accurate, and current clinical records
• Completed, or currently completing, residency training or its equivalent
• Preferred experience: Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room/Department experience or residency equivalent; board eligible/certified in American Board of Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine
