Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1-2 years of Medical Surgical experience preferred License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS (Must obtain prior to start) Must-Have: Must work every other weekend; may float to other Medical Surgical units, ICU units, and waiting rooms Description: This position offers a medical surgical nursing role specializing in the care of patients with neurological disorders such as stroke, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis. The unit involves caring for a large spinal surgery population, including post-operative neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery patients. Additional care includes managing step-down/telemetry and bariatric patients. There is a dedicated unit for neuro monitoring, admitting seizure patients to identify the causes of their conditions. Nursing staff will work night shifts with a patient ratio of 1:5-6. Charge nurses manage fewer patients when fully staffed. Equipment utilized includes EPIC and Pyxis. This role requires commitment to work every other weekend. Nurses may be assigned to float to other units as needed.
