Persons requiring accommodations to apply and/or be considered for positions are asked to make their request to the Superintendent.Job Title: Custodian - Middle SchoolRequirements:High school diploma/GEDParticipate in training as neededReports To: Building Administrator / Custodial SupervisorReceives Guidance From: Building Administrator / Custodial SupervisorEvaluation: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district's Personnel Evaluation PolicyTerms of Employment: 12 months; Full TimeJob Goal: To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learnEssential Functions:Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each day and for determining that all doors and windows are secured and all lights (except those left on for safety reasons) are turned offKeep buildings and premises, including sidewalk, driveways, and play areas (if elementary) neat and clean at all timesAbility to handle mechanical functions of the buildingMaintain a regular service schedule on all motors, mechanical equipment, ballasts, lightsRegulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricityShovel, plow, and/or sand walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as necessaryCheck daily to insure that all exit doors are operating properlyDust furniture according to weekly scheduleSweep and vacuum classrooms dailyAble to wet/dry strip wax on floors, required for yearly maintenanceAble to wax floors for yearly maintenanceClean corridors during the day as often as is requiredScrub and disinfect toilet floors daily, clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountainsWash all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice a year and more frequently if necessaryKeep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservationClean all chalkboards/whiteboards at least once a weekMove furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the principalMake such minor building repairs as he/she is capableReport major repairs needed promptly to the building principal through maintenance requestPerform such yard keeping chores as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe, attractive conditionReport immediately to the building principal any damage to school propertyRemain on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his attendance required by the principalIf an elementary building, perform weekly playground inspections (with paperwork and maintenance as required)Perform weekend building check including freezers, HVAC, doors, and lightsWill be in a scheduled rotation with Senior High for weekend activitiesPerform other duties as assigned by supervisorsOther Requirements (Intellectual, Sensory):Position will occasionally require lifting 60 pounds or moreSelf-directed - can organize own time and tasksAbility to read and follow directions on cleaning supplies
