Engineering Manager – Macro Technology | Leading Hedge Fund | New York | Hybrid Please note: Candidates who do not have an extensive buyside engineering background cannot be considered. We are working confidentially with a leading hedge fund to identify an Engineering Manager for their Macro technology function. This is a senior leadership seat with a strong hands‑on engineering bias — approximately 60% direct engineering contribution, with the remainder focused on team leadership, architecture, and stakeholder engagement across the macro trading business. What You’ll Be Doing Spending the majority of your time writing, reviewing, and owning production‑grade code across macro trading and risk systems Leading and developing a high‑calibre engineering team supporting macro strategies Owning architectural decisions across trading, risk, and analytics infrastructure for macro Driving engineering standards — code quality, design patterns, system architecture, and delivery practices Partnering directly with macro traders, portfolio managers, quant researchers, and risk managers as primary stakeholders Leading design and code reviews, setting and maintaining the technical bar across the team What We Are Looking For Strong C# or Java engineering background — 60%+ of this role is hands‑on production engineering Deep OOP, design patterns, and system architecture fundamentals Distributed systems experience — trade‑offs built and handled in production Concurrency, multithreading, and memory management at a systems level Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams without stepping back from technical depth Understanding of macro markets — rates, FX, commodities, or fixed income — sufficient to engage credibly with trading and risk stakeholders Hedge fund or high-performance financial services background strongly preferred Beneficial Prior experience building or owning macro trading or risk technology systems Experience with high-throughput or low-latency systemsMessaging framework experience — Kafka, Aeron, or equivalent Experience managing small, high‑calibre engineering teams in a buy‑side environment Location: New York | Hybrid Compensation: Base + Discretionary Bonus (Advertised is base salary only) #J-18808-Ljbffr Goldman Lloyds
