Director of Finance

Position Overview The Chicago Athletic Association is seeking a Director of Finance to lead all financial operations for its boutique hotel. The role reports to the General Manager and focuses on financial strategy, planning, reporting, and partnership with hotel leadership. Responsibilities Prepare and review all monthly and annual financial statements, investigate and analyze variance explanations, and implement corrective actions. Lead and manage on‑site and off‑site accounting functions, including financial and capital planning, budgeting, month‑end close, accounting, and cash management. Develop and implement the annual business plan aligned with overall business objectives. Oversee the year‑end process, review and approve reconciliations and audit workpapers, coordinate external audit visits, and finalize audit approval. Ensure adherence to HMA terms and reporting obligations, maintain internal controls and segregation of duties, and lead SOX compliance. Mentor and coach the finance team, support development of future leaders, and provide training and performance feedback. Provide financial insights to empower decision‑making and ownership across the organization. Oversee IT and Procurement functions and maintain understanding of operational and back‑office functions. Collaborate with hotel leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive cost efficiencies and revenue growth while preserving core values. Monitor industry trends, local legislative changes, and organizational dynamics to inform business decisions. Qualifications Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in finance; experience in hospitality, retail, or a related industry preferred. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
