Registered Nurse RN Emergency Department

Overview Position: Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Night Shift) at Banner Del Webb Medical Center, Sun City West, Arizona. Night shift from 6:00pm to 6:30am. Pay includes an 18% night shift differential and a flat $3/hour weekend differential. Responsibilities Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review patient history and physical; review diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians. Formulate a plan of care, including the discharge plan, using assessment data; set realistic, measurable goals; collaborate with multidisciplinary team; revise the plan as needed. Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health‑care team activities; provide care based on physician orders and nursing plans; delegate appropriately; supervise other licensed nurses. Evaluate the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching; revise the plan as needed; evaluate patient progress toward goals. Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure documentation is legible, timely, and follows policy. Provide care based on the best evidence; participate in research activities; engage in unit or facility shared leadership; precept and mentor when appropriate. Contribute to society by improving patient outcomes through effective, equitable, safe care; participate in professional organizations. Supervise staff and workflow of the department in some roles. Interact with all levels of staff across departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts; provide spiritual support with clergy when appropriate; synthesize data from multiple sources to support patient and family response. Qualifications Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim license or compact RN). BLS certification required. Experience in the clinical area desired; one year in an acute‑care hospital setting required for certain registry and travel positions. Must maintain clinical performance competencies; annual validations. Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for certain positions; Colorado Fingerprint Clearance Card for specific units. Charge nurse experience encouraged. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
