Regional Chief Development Officer

Job Description American Red Cross of Idaho, Montana and East Oregon is seeking a dynamic, visionary Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising and donor engagement strategy for a region where every gift contributes to lifesaving work. As a key member of the regional leadership team, you will design and drive an integrated philanthropy program that powers disaster response, supports service members and veterans, sustains lifesaving blood collection, and equips neighbors with emergency preparedness skills. Responsibilities Design and execute multi-year fundraising strategies to grow annual revenue and build a sustainable donor base. Lead and mentor Philanthropy Officer(s), engaging leadership volunteers to implement effective fundraising strategies. Act as the primary liaison for the Board’s Philanthropy Committee, supporting members in their fundraising roles. Oversee implementation of organizational campaigns in the region, ensuring all reporting requirements related to fundraising are met. Achieve or exceed the region’s minimum fundraising target and manage fundraising expense target, adapting to major domestic disaster demands. Cultivate relationships and serve as primary staff liaison for representatives of large corporations and foundations for solicitation and stewardship. Collaborate with national headquarters to identify and maximize fundraising opportunities and orient new Board members to their fundraising responsibilities. Personally manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors, leading face‑to‑face solicitations and stewardship. Physical Requirements Typical office environment with occasional driving and work under challenging conditions. Ability to use a personal computer and office equipment for sustained periods. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum 7 years of fundraising leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Five years of management experience. Current valid driver’s license with good driving record. Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and strategic planning abilities. Proficiency in MS Office and fundraising CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce). Frequent travel within Idaho and Montana; occasional travel to divisional offices and Washington, D.C. Combination of education and experience may satisfy requirements if total years meet minimum.
