Senior Field Service Engineer

Description

Integration design, installation/installation support, and on-site commissioning of voltage regulators and excitation or generator protection systems.


Reports to: General Manager Basler Services


Essential Duties

• Complete wiring and/or provide technical direction to craft labor for installation of new generator excitation and protection and controls equipment.
• Responsible for developing installation task lists and designs.
• Responsible for material and equipment procurement on assigned projects.
• Facilitate mobilization, demolition, and installation activities including equipment and tool shipping, scheduling, and supervision of craft labor on site.
• Assist with maintenance and testing of generator excitation systems, protective relays, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Participate in educational activities.
• Write trip reports that describe, in detail, the system and device failure and actions taken. Review the system problem and solution with the greater Engineering group.
• Travel to customer sites to oversee installations of equipment, perform system startup or required maintenance, provide instructions for customer maintenance, or repair equipment.
• This position requires 50%-65% travel throughout the US. Remaining office time is focused on engineering designs and reporting for assigned projects.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• B.S.E.E. degree or equivalent.
• 7-10 years' experience in design engineering is desired.
• Generator/electrical system modeling experience desired.
• Candidates must have utility/power plant experience.
• Experience with controls systems, prime mover controls including balance of plant PLC with SCADA systems or HMI is preferred.
• Travel to customer sites to oversee installations of equipment, perform system startup or required maintenance, provide instructions for customer maintenance, or repair equipment.
• Drawing update software experience (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar).
• Proficient computer and oral and written communication skills.

Compensation

We anticipate filling the Sr. Field Service Engineer position with an expected compensation range of $96,000 - $113,000. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. Starting pay and job title are based on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
