Mobile Radar Mechanical Design Engineer

Leidos’ Defense Systems Mechanical Design & Analysis Department is seeking a Mobile Radar Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Huntsville Alabama designing the next generation of sensors to protect America and its allies. You will perform mechanical design of the Army Long-range Persistent Surveillance-Mobile (ALPS-M) product.As a member of the design team, you will use SolidWorks CAD software and Windchill PLM software daily to turn ideas into designs. Then you’ll work alongside the production team to turn your designs into hardware. You might be asked to help integrate and install the hardware, and then you’ll work with the testing team to put your hardware into action.This role requires a strong technical contributor and leader, proficient in applying technical principles, theories, and concepts in mechanical engineering, structural design, electronics enclosure design, and thermal management. You will be responsible for developing and proving out solutions to technical problems and issues that may be difficult or unclear while collaborating with other members of the design, systems, manufacturing, and structural, and thermal analysis teams. This person must take ownership of their assigned tasks - driving solutions to meet technical requirements while meeting aggressive schedules.This is not your average engineering position. Share your resume with us today!Primary ResponsibilitiesStructural and enclosure design via Solidworks CAD software, drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5, and producing technical data packages in accordance with MIL-STD-31000Basic QualificationsBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university4+ years of applicable experience or 2+ years with MS degree - seeking to fill multiple roles from mid to senior levelStrong SolidWorks userExperience with drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5Basic understanding and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysisStrong attention-to-detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsSelf-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environmentsProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Active DoD security clearance (or eligibility to obtain and maintain clearance)Preferred QualificationsWindchill PLM experienceDesign and/or Integration experience in the following areas:Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) and trailersMobile tactical equipmentPower generationMobile tactical equipmentPayload erector systemsBasic understanding or experience with radars or other advanced sensing technologiesExperience with large steel structures including welded structures, bolted assemblies, and machined partsExperience with aluminum sheet metal parts, electronics racks and enclosures, and environmental control unitsExperience with metal part finishes and coatingsExperience supporting rapid development, prototyping, or fast-paced DOW engineering programs**This posting is for multiple opportunities ranging in years of experience.
