Thermal Energy Center Building Engineer

About the Role As a CBRE Thermal Energy Center Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and repairing building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling. This position is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems within the facility. Must live within designated radius of the job site to reliably work on scheduled shifts. Willing to work on‑call (every two weeks). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems. Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned. Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety. Maintain an energy management program and ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner. Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life; perform emergency repairs as needed. Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe workplace. Review inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation within design capabilities and client‑specified environmental conditions. Apply in‑depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions. Coach others and share in‑depth knowledge of one's job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function. Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values. Build consensus and influence others to reach agreement. Impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within own team and related teams. Work within broad guidelines and policies. Explain difficult or sensitive information. Supervisory Responsibilities No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers and may coordinate work and assign tasks. What You’ll Need Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future. Education and Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum of five (5) years of building engineering or related experience. Experience focusing on HVAC/R, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing. Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS) is a plus. EPA certification required. Certificates and/or Licenses Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions. Other Skills and/or Abilities Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more. Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems. Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents. Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset. In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Salary The minimum salary for the Thermal Energy Center Building Engineer position is $38 per hour and the maximum salary is $43 per hour. Compensation may be adjusted based on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role also includes 401(k), dental, health, life, and vision insurance.
