Maintenance Specialist - Boiler/Plumber
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure across the district, ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Respond to work order requests and complete repairs that do not require outside vendors.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and adjust Building Automation Systems (BAS) including HVAC, lighting, and environmental control.
- Operate and maintain HVAC and related equipment.
- Maintain and repair food service equipment.
- Develop schedule and perform preventive maintenance work.
- Inspect equipment to determine repair and maintenance needs.
- Maintain tools and equipment available for use.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Perform repairs or replacements to equipment as necessary.
- Resolve situations that could become a hazard throughout the district.
- Monitor/inspect outside contractors' work to ensure completion and cleanup.
- Solve problems using good judgment and follow through to completion.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully to ensure clear and accurate information is shared.
- Adhere to standard safety procedures and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Respond to emergency situations after regular hours as needed.
- Available for callbacks as needed.
Education/experience requirements:
Minimum education and experience required to perform adequately in position could reasonably be attained only by completing the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record
Preferred education/experience requirements:
- Completion of related trade school course
- Five years' experience in building maintenance
- MN boilers license
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams.
