Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Observation Unit

Contract | Days | Every Other Weekend Required | Holiday Rotation with Permanent Staff

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 22-bed medical observation unit with a fast-paced, high-turnover environment handling up to 16 discharges and admissions per day
• Manage patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6, occasionally assuming charge nurse responsibilities including taking a patient assignment
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips on a heavy telemetry unit supported by central monitoring
• Administer and manage heparin drips as the primary titratable infusion on the unit
• Perform independent EKGs and draw patient labs as part of routine nursing duties
• Float to medical surgical units as needed per staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience with at least 1 prior travel assignment
• Current BLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Ability to work every other weekend and rotate holidays with permanent staff
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility per client requirements

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current ACLS certification (highly recommended)
• Experience in a medical observation or medical surgical setting with high patient turnover
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
